Digital collaboration helps construction sites manage pre-site and on-site workforce safety.

Two leading construction technology experts have joined forces to improve safety, productivity and visibility on site by integrating their software platforms.

Biosite, the UK market leader in biometric access control and workforce management technology for construction and health and safety software platform Work Wallet, have developed a tailored package for construction to bring together operative and site data.

The powerful combination of pre-site and on-site biometric access control, workforce management and safety software means construction companies can better support and manage health and safety, efficiency and compliance using digital tools, whilst reducing risk and cost inefficiencies. Real-time data is easily accessible via mobile app or desktop, to improve visibility and traceability – at both site and Group level – to help establish a digital thread of information for construction companies.

Before entering a site, operatives pe-enrol using Biosite’s Online Induction system, meaning key information such as their qualification and credentials can be checked and verified in advance, which also saves valuable time on site. This information is linked to Biosite’s biometric access control systems at site entry and exit points, to integrate operative access permissions and history with their profile and approval status. This helps monitor time and attendance, competency, subcontractor levels and the ratio of critical site personnel on site, such as fire marshals and first aiders.

On site, Work Wallet software supports effective health and safety management, with selected software modules including Accident & Incident Reporting, Safety Briefings, Permit to Work checks, PPE Manager, Audits & Inspections , Asset Inspections & Management and Site Diary.

The safety card feature on both systems now integrates meaning operatives assigned a red or yellow card (for example if their qualifications have expired) on either system will be flagged and, for example, their access permissions to site will be updated and restricted if needed.

Tim Scott, Commercial Director at Biosite, comments:

“We want to make it easier for construction companies to access accurate, real-time data from their site – or holistically at Group level – to better understand and manage their workforce and ensure they are safe, that project progress is efficient and that activity is compliant.

The partnership with Work Wallet is an ideal add on for existing Biosite customers and the total package valuable to new customers who may not have deployed biometric access control, workforce management or health & safety software on site, but understand the potential value. We’re excited to make this solution available to our customer base and introduce this technology collaboration to a wider audience.”

Jonny Gray, CEO at Work Wallet, adds:

Our partnership joins the compliance and risk dots together, ensuring everyone is safe and compliant before stepping on site and remains so when they are on site. It combines the most advanced access control, workforce management and health & safety technology. Our vision is to provide a total site solution, encompassing pre-site induction and authorisation, secure biometric site entry and exit, and on-site health & safety and asset management monitoring.

It’s an exciting proposition for the construction industry and developed with simplicity in mind, with the added benefit of establishing a digital thread of information for better visibility and traceability.”

Work Wallet software modules can now be simply selected and purchased as a ‘bolt on’ to the existing Biosite system, as part of a tailored solution for construction and the two systems integrate via secure API connection.
