Biosite secures ID06 partnership in the Nordics

Biosite Systems Ltd, part of ASSA ABLOY Group, has entered a strategic partnership with IDO6 in Sweden and the Nordic region. ID06 was launched in 2006 by Sweden’s construction industries to promote healthy competition, easily identify people in the workplace and connect each person to an employer.

Today, use of the ID06 card is the standard for access, personal ledgers and time & attendance on construction sites in Sweden, with around 800,000 cards active in the market.

Biosite will help bolster the value proposition of ID06 by deploying advanced PIV-standard card reader technology, with the addition of biometric (fingerprint) technology for increased security, traceability and flexibility. This new technology will help eliminate opportunities to circumvent security processes. Biosite’s in-house software team is also developing a tailored digital workflow to ensure specific information is captured to streamline processes.

Li Wang, Managing Director at Biosite Systems Ltd, comments: “ID06 was established to promote healthy competition in the construction industry. By capturing accurate and consistent data across the whole construction value chain and making it easier to identify people at sites, we help to ensure that the workforce is compliant.

“Following Biosite’s acquisition by ASSA ABLOY earlier this year, it became clear that the synergies between our unique biometric technology and the Group’s advanced card system would be an ideal fit to support the roll out of the new ID06 card. We are excited to introduce biometric technology to the construction industry in the Nordics and to continue to develop technology-enabled solutions that make construction sites safer and more efficient.”

Samuel Asarnoj, Managing Director of the Business Area Construction in ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions, adds: “We have become an ID06 partner to participate in the roll-out of the new ID06 card and give the construction industry the opportunity to choose enhanced technology for access control. With the introduction of biometrics, you move away from the possibility of manipulating cards and identities and instead provide full insight into who has accessed site. This will improve safety and provide protection against particular issues on site, including for example the theft of dangerous materials.”

Thor Jonsson, Card Manager at ID06 AB, concludes: “I see that we have an exciting journey ahead of us in the use of biometrics, which is a rapidly growing area. It will be easier to control workplaces and establish a safer and healthier industry. I look forward to the ID06 system growing with partners such as ASSA ABLOY and Biosite, who can offer our joint customers secure and smart solutions.”

Biosite is a market leader in workforce management solutions for the UK construction industry and was acquired by ASSA ABLOY Group in February 2020. For more information click here.
